UID Aadhaar Card

The Aadhaar Project is a government of India initiate. The UIDAI under the ministry and conceived by the planning commission in India. The main objective is to create a photo identity of the countries population. The identification UID or AAdhaar Card is based on latest technology which uses biometric analysis for this purpose.

The Unique Identification Authority of India was created to issue Aadhaar card. The UIDAI is composed of three posts DG, DDG and ADG. There are thirty five UID Commissioners at HQ of each state.

The regional offices are at Lucknow, Bangalore, Ranchi, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chandigarh Hyderabad and Guwahati. In the year 2009 additional posts were created raising the total number in the team to 383.

Th HQ is in New Delhi with a Chairman, Director General and Mission Director. As per plamming the DG is to be assisted by seven joint secretary level officers these will be Deputy Director Generals. The detailed employment and status is laid out on the UIDAI website. The UIDAI is constituted as the result of Aadhaar Project. The body will be issuing a 12 digit Unique Identification Number known as Aadhaar or UID Card to the applicants.

This is a unique photo identity and is based on Biometric analysis besides other identifying factors. A UIDAI Biometric Center is to come up at Bangalore with the purpose of implementing the biometric system and time to time enhancing the technology in order to further the process.

The completed form can than be submitted at the nearest Enrollment Centre. The rest of the formalities are then completed here. You need to submit identity proof for which a IT Pan Card issued by the Income Tax Department or Ration Card a Driving license etc.

After all the formalities are completed a temporary enrollment number is issued. Remeber the UID Card stores you demographic as well as biometric information. The application is verified centrally and the number imprinted on a laminated card is issued. This is then sent by registered post to your address.

In order to check the status of your Aadhaar application you need to visit the UIDAI website and go to the search tool. At the UID search tool you need to submit your temporary enrollment number and the date of application. This will fetch your application status online.

This unique identification process will benefit both the Government and the resident of India. This is believed to counter corruption, prevent illegal trespass into the country, improve the election process and help fight terrorism.

The scheme was launched on September 29/2010 at Tembhli, in Shahada, Nandurbar in the State of Maharashtra. The number has been allotted to more than 120 million Indian Citizens so far. Every month 20 million Aadhar number cards are being allotted all over the country.

This is the Government of India's mega scheme unparallelled in the country's history. The total budget estimatte comes to around six billion US Dollars.
